Find York Correctional Institution Releases

To find someone released from York Correctional Institution after a Hartford case, search Connecticut's statewide correctional records. York is the state institution for female offenders and serves courts across Connecticut, so its Hartford connection comes from the person's court and custody path rather than the prison's location. A woman arrested or sentenced in Hartford may be held at York as a pretrial or sentenced person. Release can mean bond, sentence discharge, parole, another form of supervision, transfer, or delivery to another authority. The state offender record, VINE, court docket, and formal DOC records establish which outcome occurred.

York Correctional Release Paths

York Correctional Institution is a Connecticut Department of Correction prison and pretrial custody site for female offenders. It is not a Hartford county jail. CT DOC says York serves all Connecticut superior courts and manages both pretrial and sentenced women. That statewide role is why a Hartford arrest involving a woman may lead to York rather than Hartford Correctional Center, which primarily holds adult men.

A pretrial person may leave York on bond, a promise to appear, or another court order while the case continues. A sentenced person may complete the term, enter parole or special parole, move to a residential or transitional setting, or transfer to another correctional authority. A move to another DOC site is continued custody. A warrant, detainer, federal matter, or immigration hold can also redirect the person rather than return her to the community. Read both status and destination before describing the event as release.

Hartford case, statewide custody. York's location in Niantic does not change the Hartford court origin, and a move away from York does not always mean discharge.

Confirm a York Institution Release

The correct public route is the CT DOC Inmate Information Search. Search by inmate number when known. Otherwise use last name, first name, and date of birth. CT DOC notes that an inmate number alone or the first few letters of a surname can improve a search. This is helpful for a hyphenated name, a former name, or a spelling variation.

  1. Gather the CT DOC number, full legal name, date of birth, and Hartford court docket.
  2. Search and record the exact custody status, listed institution, and release-date text.
  3. Use Connecticut VINELink to check a reported custody change or register for notice.
  4. Read the correct superior-court docket for bond, sentence, disposition, and probation.
  5. Ask CT DOC Public Information for a discharge or transfer record when the public status is incomplete.

A current York entry means the person remains in DOC custody. A different facility means transfer, not release. A released, discharged, parole, or community status should be verified in the docket and, when needed, with the supervision office. CT.gov warns that a listed status may lag and that release dates can change. Preserve the wording and the date it was viewed.

The Hartford released-inmate search path is useful if the state search has no match. The person may have had only a Hartford Police or court event, may be in federal or immigration custody, may use another name, or may have a record affected by erasure.

York Release Records Contact

York's facility contact is useful for official routing. A formal discharge record, disputed date, or older custody question belongs with CT DOC Public Information and Central Records. State records staff can distinguish an actual discharge from movement between facilities. A request should include the person's identifiers, Hartford docket when relevant, custody dates, and the exact field needed.

The research does not supply a York public phone number, so one should not be guessed. Use the official York Correctional Institution page for current facility contacts and directions. For offender information, the published state office route is the safer starting point.

Ask for records by function. A release or discharge record concerns the correctional status. Sentence calculation questions may involve jail credit, a later sentence, or Risk Reduction Earned Credit and should be routed to Sentence Calculation and Interstate Management or Central Records. Parole hearing information belongs to the Board of Pardons and Paroles. Probation terms come from the Judicial Branch case and Court Support Services Division.

Note: Give the Hartford docket number with the DOC number when the same person has several Connecticut cases or custody periods.

York State Custody Records

The CT DOC facilities directory places York within the statewide system, which matters more than county boundaries for release research.

York Correctional Institution Hartford release and CT DOC custody records

The captured official facility source establishes York's role. The individual release still must be matched to the DOC number, status, court case, and supervision record.

A useful release record can show the full name, DOC number, admission date, institution, sentence reference, status, release date when recorded, release reason, destination or receiving authority, and supervision status. Not every item appears in one public screen. The court explains the legal order, DOC explains correctional custody, and VINE reports participating-source custody changes.

Hartford Cases at York

A Hartford Police arrest can start the record trail. The Daily Arrest Log may show the case number, arrest number, arrest type, date and time, location, charges, and identifiers. It is an arrest feed, not a release list. If a woman is taken into custody and remanded, CT DOC becomes the custody source. If she is summoned or cited, a York record may never exist.

Use the Connecticut Judicial Branch docket to connect the police event to York custody. A bond order, promise to appear, mittimus, sentence, probation term, violation, or later modification can explain entry and exit. A release on bond is not a final disposition. A prison discharge does not always end probation, special parole, registry duties, or other court terms.

Hartford Correctional Center serves a group of superior courts in central Connecticut, but York serves all superior courts. Do not limit the search to one Hartford courtroom if the person has a linked case elsewhere. Search by defendant and docket, then compare the dates and charge set with the DOC record. Similar names alone are not enough.

Pretrial custody
Detention while the case has not reached final disposition.
Mittimus
A court document directing correctional custody or carrying out a sentence.
Parole
Conditional community release under correctional and board authority.
Probation
A court sentence supervised through the Judicial Branch outside prison.

York Release Date Changes

A projected release date for a sentenced person is a calculation, not a guarantee. CT DOC Central Records accounts for the sentence, jail credit, concurrent or consecutive terms, earned credit, disciplinary changes, and later court action. Risk Reduction Earned Credit may be earned for an accountability plan, approved work or programs, and rule compliance. Credit can also be lost. The Board's parole eligibility rules form another timeline and do not promise that parole will be granted.

Connecticut's public material distinguishes many cases generally eligible after fifty percent of a qualifying sentence from violent-offense cases generally requiring eighty-five percent less jail credit. For applicable offenses committed on or after July 1, 2013, RREC does not reduce the eighty-five-percent parole eligibility date. The actual rule depends on the offense and sentence, so avoid calculating a date from a charge label alone.

New cases, detainers, warrants, federal or immigration holds, parole decisions, and data processing can all alter what happens on a projected day. A past completed discharge date is stronger evidence than a future estimate, but even then check whether another authority assumed custody. The destination controls whether the person returned to Hartford or remained held elsewhere.

Note: Parole eligibility is the date review may become possible, not an order that York must release the person.

York Release and Supervision

After secure custody, parole or special parole is routed through CT DOC Parole and Community Services and the Connecticut Board of Pardons and Paroles. Hartford has a district office at 300 Sheldon Street for local community-supervision routing. The nearby Residential Services Unit may matter when release includes a structured placement. Neither office is a jail roster or booking-photo source.

Probation is different. It is imposed by the court and supervised by the Judicial Branch Court Support Services Division. Search the docket for the probation term and any violation case. A person can leave York to probation, parole, special parole, both forms at different stages, or no supervision at all. Verify the exact legal term instead of using “parole” as a general word for release.

Connecticut's older county-jail history also explains why people search for a Hartford women's jail. Current state structure is the key. York is the CT DOC institution for female offenders, and the Hartford link is through arrest and court origin. The modern release path stays statewide: CT DOC for custody and discharge, VINE for alerts, courts for legal events, and supervision agencies for the period after release.
